The main emphasis of the research and teaching at the Department of Livestock Population Genomics is the natural variation and the evolutionary processes which provide the basis of modified gene function, evolutionary innovations and phenotypic differentiation among organisms.
Interactions with a variety of abiotic and biotic environmental factors such as climate, food and microorganism are key processes affecting organismal development. We are trying to decipher such key factors and underlying genetic components using population genomics and transcriptome approaches in social insect species and livestock.
