Research Interests
Biodiversity is often understood merely as the number of species. However, in view of human-induced habitat loss and climate change, which threaten biological diversity in der "sixth mass extinction", the often-neglected intraspecific diversity can be crucial for the adaptability and thus the survival of populations and species.
In my doctoral project, I aim to establish the polymorphic solitary bee Anthophora plumipes as a model organism for studying intraspecific diversity in wild bees. To this end, I am also collaborating with Michael Orr's research group at the Natural History Musesum in Stuttgart.
My further research interests are the taxonomy, faunistidx and biology of native wild bees and stinging wasps (Hymenoptera: Aculeata).
